Meet your 2025-2026 Executive Board

  • President: Maddy Marker

    Maddy is a junior in the program from Flushing, MI, with interests in severe weather, climate change, and warning systems. She took part in NSF ICECHIP, is currently working under a NASA research grant, and will be interning with NOAA through 2026. She is a snowboarding instructor at Snow Snake Ski and Golf, loves food, running, snowboarding, and music.

  • Vice Pres: Jack Gulisano

    ack is from Harrison Township, MI and is primarily interested in forensic meteorology and engineering infrastructure resilient to extreme weather. He is a NOAA Hollings Scholar, and is interning at the National Water Center in Tuscaloosa, AL this summer. At CMU, Jack is a RA in Herrig Hall, and is a tutor for Student Athlete Services. In his free time, Jack enjoys watching The Walking Dead with his roommates.

    From Spring Lake, MI, Lexi is a Sophomore interested in social science research specifically looking at how underserved communities are affected by weather. She participated in the NWC REU and additionally took part STORM at CMU’s Biological Station on Beaver Island this summer. In Lexi’s free time, she enjoys hiking, bowling, golfing, and skiing.

    Ava is a sophomore from Essexville, MI who enjoys forecasting and is interested in mesoscale convective systems. She works as a server/bartender, a forecaster for the Mid-Mitten Weather RSO, and is participated in the STORM program this summer on Beaver Island. In her free time, Ava likes to cloud watch, fish, and read in view of the Saginaw Bay. She is excited to make more connections and continue her education this year!

    Ashton is a Sophomore from White Pigeon, MI who is interested in pursuing a career in emergency management or within the other social aspects of meteorology. He currently works as a customer services host at Walmart, assisting people from many backgrounds. This summer, Ashton took part in a research/training opportunity on Beaver Island (STORM). In his free time, he loves to play pickleball and hangout with friends!

  • Webmaster: Teagen Schultz

    From Fruitport, Michigan, Teagen is interested in weather communication and mesoscale processes, and climate change. She currently works as a forecaster for the Muskegon Channel and serves tables at the Arboreal Inn. Teagen additionally took part in NSF ICECHIP conducting field research on hail and is continuing research with the data from the campagin. In her free time, she loves going to the beach, golfing, shopping, and cooking.

Our Responsibilities

President

The president of SCAMS oversees the society. They are responsible for communications with the university and the AMS. She/He does not vote.

Vice President

The vice president’s main duties are to overlook the committees of the society and help them achieve the goals they may have.

Treasurer

 The treasurer of SCAMS will keep accurate records of all financial dealings pertaining to the Society: this includes all bank statements, receipts, transactions from fundraising/dues, etc.

Secretary

The SCAMS secretary will take attendance for each meeting and records notes during the meeting for our meeting minutes. They also manage our club Discord where members can discuss weather and club business.

Student Government Representative

Our SGA Rep acts as the club’s representative to the University so we can be recognized as an official Registered Student Organization with CMU and secure funding for conferences/club activities.

Webmaster

Our social media chair is expected to keep our various social media platforms up to date. They are also in charge of our super cool website and keeping it up to date.
