NEW ORLEANS – High winds from a possible tornado injured three people and damaged nearly two dozen homes Monday in southern Louisiana, a day after severe thunderstorms across the Southeast killed one person.

The Louisiana storm ripped through the rural community of Catahoula around 6 a.m., Major Ginny Higgins of the St. Martin Parish sheriff's department said.

Higgins says a woman struck by flying debris was treated at a local hospital for a broken leg. Two others had minor injuries that didn't require medical attention.
